District’s Highway Safety Office Launches Holiday Impaired Driving Prevention Campaign
(WASHINGTON, DC) — On Wednesday, December 10, 2025, the District’s Highway Safety Office kicked off the holiday impaired driving prevention campaign gathering friends and partners to Sleigh the Season Safely. The goal of the campaign is to increase awareness of the consequences of impaired driving and highlight impaired driving enforcement. The campaign also promotes planning for a sober ride home.

Safety Corridor Press Release
Today, the D.C. Highway Safety Office (HSO), District Department of Transportation (DDOT), and Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officially announced the District’s first Safety Corridors, a targeted traffic safety initiative aimed at reducing crashes and saving lives on high-risk roadways. The announcement took place during a press conference at F1 Arcade, which is located at the base of one of the corridors.

End of 2024 Vision Zero Data
As 2024 comes to an end, the District of Columbia remains steadfast in its commitment to improving traffic safety and eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries on District roadways. While fatalities have increased in the post-COVID era, a promising decrease in major injuries illustrates progress towards the goal of Vision Zero.
